From Product Discovery To $3m Raised: A Website Built To Keep Pace With Roamr.
Hatch built Roamr's first website before its initial funding round, then kept redesigning and extending it as the Irish travel-tech startup refined its proposition, went to market and raised approximately $3m.
The brief
Give An Evolving Startup A Website That Can Change As Quickly As The Business Around It.
Roamr came to Hatch during product discovery with an established visual identity but no website capable of explaining the idea, building confidence or supporting a go-to-market programme. The brief became an ongoing partnership—launch the first site, sharpen the story as the product evolved, and keep adding the pages, journeys and integrations each new stage required.

Roamr needed to make a new category feel credible
Roamr is an Irish travel-technology startup rethinking the cost of business travel. Instead of automatically sending employees to hotels, its platform lets people stay with friends or colleagues. The company saves money, the traveller and host are rewarded, and distributed teams get more time together.
It is a compelling idea once it clicks. Making it click quickly was the challenge.
Roamr came to us during product discovery, before its first funding round and before the proposition had settled into the form it has today. A branding agency had created the visual identity. Our job was to turn that foundation and an evolving product idea into the company’s first credible digital presence.
The website had to do more than introduce a startup. It needed to explain an unfamiliar model, give potential customers and investors confidence, and remain flexible enough to change as the team learned from the market.
The real brief was adaptability
Early-stage companies rarely stand still long enough for a fixed website brief. The product changes. The best audience becomes clearer. Investor conversations sharpen the story. A campaign creates an opportunity that needs a page next week, not next quarter.
That was the reality for Roamr. The first website gave the team a professional platform from which to introduce the business and begin building momentum. As the company progressed through its pre-seed stage, we redesigned the site around a clearer proposition and a more developed product.
The relationship continued after launch because the website could never become a finished brochure. Roamr needed a partner who already understood the product, could respond quickly and could turn the next commercial priority into a live customer journey without restarting discovery each time.
Over approximately two years, that has meant continually evolving the site alongside the company: refining the core story, launching new pages, supporting promotions and conferences, connecting lead-generation tools, and working directly with Roamr’s product developers and external marketing specialists.
| Startup challenge | What we changed | Commercial purpose |
|---|---|---|
| A new model that took time to explain | Turned the proposition into a clear, structured website story | Help customers and investors understand the opportunity quickly |
| A product and positioning still evolving | Redesigned and extended the site as Roamr learned from the market | Keep the public story aligned with the company being built |
| Company buyers and individual travellers needed different reasons to act | Created distinct routes for Roamr for Work and Roamr for Friends | Let each audience reach the right message and next step without confusion |
| Campaign opportunities moved quickly | Designed and built focused landing pages for conferences, promotions and marketing programmes | Give each campaign a relevant destination and clearer conversion path |
| The marketing site had to connect to the product stack | Worked with Roamr's developers on web-app handoffs, interactive elements, lead magnets and CRM integrations | Turn interest into a usable next step while keeping the experience joined up |
One proposition, two very different journeys
As Roamr evolved, the website had to speak to two connected but distinct audiences.
Roamr for Work is a company proposition. The buyer needs to understand travel savings, policy controls, safety, payments and the value for distributed teams. That journey has to build enough trust for a decision-maker to book a demonstration and consider changing an established travel behaviour.
Roamr for Friends opens the platform to an individual traveller whose company may not yet be a Roamr customer. That person needs a much more immediate story: enter a trip, invite someone they already know, make the stay expensable, and let both traveller and host earn.
Putting both offers on one website without flattening them into a vague middle ground required deliberate information architecture. We kept the shared idea—paying people, not hotels—at the centre, then created clear paths with their own benefits, proof and calls to action.
This gives Roamr room to test how the market responds to each route while preserving one recognisable product story.
A website that supports the go-to-market team
The core website is only part of the work. Roamr regularly needs focused pages for a particular conference, promotion, audience or marketing programme. We design and develop those pages around the message and action of the campaign rather than sending every visitor into the same generic journey.
During a sustained six-month campaign period, we worked alongside Roamr’s wider marketing support to develop and refine the landing-page side of its paid-social funnel. Our role centred on the experience after the click: matching the page to the campaign promise, making the product easier to understand and removing friction around the next step.
We have also worked with Roamr’s development team to connect the marketing site with the web app, introduce interactive components and lead magnets, and support integrations including HubSpot. When another specialist owns the campaign or channel, we fit into that team and take responsibility for the design and development layer.
That flexibility matters in a startup. Roamr can test a new route, support an event or bring a product update to market without finding and briefing a new supplier every time.
The result is continuity through every stage
Roamr has moved from product discovery to a live travel platform with users in more than 100 countries. During the same period, the company closed a €573,000 pre-seed round and then attracted approximately $2.25m in additional backing, bringing total funding to roughly $3m.
Those are Roamr’s achievements. The website is one part of the broader work behind them. Its role has been to give the company a credible, adaptable public platform at each stage: something the team could put in front of an early customer, an investor, a company travel buyer or an individual traveller and trust it to tell the current story well.
The commercial signal we can attribute most directly comes from Roamr itself. In his public review, CEO Stephen Dooley reported an uptick in inbound sales after our work and highlighted the value of being able to return for continued iterations. That combination matters more than a one-off launch: the site supports demand today, while the relationship gives Roamr the capacity to keep improving it tomorrow.
Still building alongside Roamr
The next version of an early-stage company is rarely fully visible from the current one. New audiences emerge, the product matures and a go-to-market experiment becomes a permanent part of the offer.
That is why our work with Roamr remains ongoing. We continue to act as its web design and development partner, ready to turn the next campaign, integration or shift in the product story into a clear live experience.
For Roamr, the outcome is not simply a website that launched. It is a website partnership that has stayed useful from the company’s earliest discovery work through funding, product change and international growth—and is still in place for what comes next.
